English speakers are welcome and needed as English conversation partners, child care providers, worship attendees, students in Spanish classes and volunteers at the Workers Justice clinics. Many from Plymouth and the wider community have crossed what usually are impossible cultural bridges. Here, we serve, learn, and grow together.
The Vision of Hispanic Ministries is:
*To establish a Spanish speaking spiritual community that regularly gathers at Plymouth Congregational Church and finds freedom through cultivating a deeper knowledge of themselves, others and God in the Spanish language.
*To minister with Christ’s loving care for Spanish speakers in our community who are unable to attend Sunday worship.
*To increase relationships among English and Spanish speakers that will lead to a collective liberation.

Legal clinics to advocate for workers who suffer wage theft are organized by the Lawrence Worker Justice Coalition and hosted by Plymouth’s Mission Board- volunteers needed the last Monday of the month 6-8pm. Contact lawrenceworkerjustice@gmail.com
The Lawrence Worker Justice Coalition is a coalition of workers, non-profits, faith based organizations, and concerned citizens who have organized to host monthly workers justice clinics because:
1. While some businesses in Lawrence treat workers well, many other employers are withholding paychecks or not paying for hard earned overtime hours, etc. In addition to being illegal and unjust, it helps to keep contributing community members in poverty. This has got to change.
2. We envision a community in which workers are treated with dignity and workplaces are guided by principles of justice and solidarity.
3. The Department of Labor has laws that mandate a minimum base for workers’ rights. There are minimum wage laws, workers comp laws, and contracts between employers and employees that must be kept- regardless of someone’s class, ethnic background, or documentation status. We can help them be enforced.

Our mission is to “provide free English classes with free child care on a regular and ongoing basis, in order to contribute to the access English language learners have to support and English practice; as well as provide the opportunity for conversation partners to learn from English language learners so that cross-cultural, class, and linguistic barriers are replaced with understanding and respect through shared dialogue and experiences.”
Spanish classes are Tues and Thurs from 7-8pm. Both basic and intermediate levels available. Contact Liz Weslander for more info: lizweslander@hotmail.com
