Plymouth Votes to Move Forward with Capital Campaign for Sanctuary Project

The congregation gathered on Thursday, January 11, for a called congregational meeting to decide whether to move forward with a capital campaign to improve the Sanctuary--including the organ. After a presentation on the proposal and discussion, the congregation overwhelmingly voted by voice vote to move forward with the campaign.

There are many “next steps” that will now begin. These include:

1. Council agreeing to a contract with the consultant Generis to help organize and execute the campaign.

2. A campaign chair and other lay leaders will be organized.

3. Additional estimates will be requested from organ companies.

4. More detailed construction estimates will be developed.

5. Lead gifts will be explored.

The goal is to announce a developed capital campaign to the congregation in the first part of April to last through Pentecost on May 19th.

Thank you to everyone who was able to attend on a cold January evening. A special thank you to all the members who have spent years on various boards, task forces, and committees studying these facility issues. We have a lot of work ahead of us, but this meeting was an important step towards our goal of maintaining and rejuvenating our very special sanctuary.
