Petition to Call a Congregational Metting:

We, the undersigned members of Plymouth Congregation Church, respectfully submit this petition in accordance with our rights and responsibilities as members of this congregation. It has come to our attention that the Church Council is preparing to approve major modifications to the historic chancel of our sanctuary. Given the significance of these proposed changes to the heritage, identity, and worship life of our congregation, we believe that such decisions should not rest solely with the Church Council but should require the discernment and approval of the full congregation.

Therefore, we petition that a special call congregational meeting be convened at the earliest practicable date, for the purpose of discussing and voting upon the proposed modifications to the chancel.

We believe that this matter is of such importance that it requires the full voice of the congregation, in the spirit of our covenantal tradition and congregational polity.

In accordance with the governing documents of Plymouth Congregational Church, this petition shall be presented to the appropriate leadership, and upon reaching the required minimum number of signatures of church members (10% of the membership as determined by the most recent annual meeting), it shall constitute a formal request for a called congregational meeting.
