In December of 2021, Olive was diagnosed with MDS (Myelodysplastic Syndrome), a type of blood cancer. Olive has received blood transfusions and platelets. Four lifesaving bags of blood were given to Olive upon initial diagnosis. The generosity of strangers has allowed Olive to stay strong and fight her disease. On March 2, 2022, she received a bone marrow transplant. She continues to be in remission following her transplant and will enter middle school in the fall.
In honor of Olive Mitchell and members of the Plymouth community who have received donated blood, Plymouth will host a Blood Drive on Thursday, July 28, from 10 am to 4 pm in our Mayflower Room.
